Across Asia, demand for cage-free eggs continues to rise steadily. This growth is reflected in the inspiring progress we’re seeing from producers — from improved farm management to greater readiness for market opportunities. The success stories featured in this newsletter highlight how producers like you are shaping the future of the cage-free sector: China’s first-ever Cage-Free Egg Producer Association: The association has now been launched, uniting leading producers, advancing technical capacity, and strengthening market linkages. Star Farm Pakistan delegates attend training at our Indonesia model farm: We welcomed delegates from Star Farm Pakistan to our Cage-Free Innovation and Welfare Hub in Indonesia, where they received practical, farm-level training to support Pakistan’s rapidly growing cage-free sector. Launch of one of China’s largest cage-free farm: Sundaily, one of the world’s largest egg producers, has launched its first 300,000-hen cage-free farm. Our team provided on-site technical guidance to support a smooth start and strong flock performance.
Whether you're starting a new cage-free farm or transitioning from conventional systems, we're here to support you. You can reach out to me at e.lane@globalfoodpartners.com - always happy to connect.

Transforming the industry: China’s new Cage-free Producer Association |
Last month, we announced the establishment of China’s first Cage-free Egg Producer Association, launched together with the country’s leading cage-free egg producers—Ningxia Xiaoming Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd., Suzhou Ovodan Egg Industry Co., Ltd., Happy Egg Agricultural Development (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Pianguan Yong’ao Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., and Sichuan Xinde Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd. As the Association’s exclusive technical cooperation partner, we will provide science-based, practical guidance to advance animal welfare, sustainability, and best practices across the egg industry.
The Association will also play a key role in expanding cage-free credits, building fair and verified systems that reward farmers and help food companies meet their cage-free commitments. As an industry-led initiative, the Association is positioned to drive progress through strengthened credit mechanisms, technical empowerment, and a collective commitment to higher welfare and a more responsible food system. |

Training Star Farm Pakistan at our Cage-free Innovation and Welfare Hub |

We recently welcomed delegates from Star Farm Pakistan to our Cage-free Innovation and Welfare Hub in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, for a two-day, hands-on training programme designed to support the growth of Pakistan’s cage-free egg sector. Star Farm Pakistan, a subsidiary of Metro Group, works closely with egg producers across the country to strengthen training, build capacity, and improve market access, making this collaboration a key step in advancing cage-free production in the region.
During the visit, delegates received practical training that included: Hands-on cage-free management training at our model farm Overview of international cage-free certification requirements Technical discussions on flock behaviour, biosecurity, and common production challenges
This training is part of our ongoing commitment to equip producers with the tools and knowledge they need to transition successfully and improve performance in cage-free systems. A huge thank you to Star Farm Pakistan for your collaboration and trust. |

A major milestone: Sundaily launches a 300,000-hen cage-free farm |
Our partner, Sundaily, one of China’s and the world’s largest egg producers has officially launched its first cage-free farm, starting with 300,000 laying hens and plans to scale to one million.
Earlier this month, our Scientific Officer in China, Carrie Zhang, was on-site to oversee the placement of the first flock and provide hands-on training. Her support centred on the most critical phase of cage-free production — the brooding period — guiding the team on precise care, close observation, and the key management practices needed to ensure a smooth start for the birds.
Since 2020, our Science and Extension team has supported producers across China in navigating different cage-free systems, including single-level, multi-tier, and free-range. Drawing from years of field experience, our technical experts have developed practical frameworks that help producers manage every stage — from chick rearing to laying — while balancing welfare, performance, and long-term farm success.
Whether you’re starting a new cage-free farm or transitioning from conventional systems, we’re here to support you every step of the way. |
